failed to load a plug-in module C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3\UniDrvUI.dll, error code 0x5

Product Name: HP Envy 4500
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Event ID: 808

After installing a local printer without an issue I'm unable to print as a standard domain user. The print job is sent to the printer but nothing shows up in the queue. Instead in event viewer I'm left with the following error "The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3\UniDrvUI.dll, error code 0x5"

I've checked to see that error code 0x5 is a denial of access and so this issue only occurs on non admin accounts. I'm able to print from the local and domain admin accounts. I've tried turning down UAC settings to never notify. I've tried giving the account Power User permissions. I've changed the permissions to UnIDrvUI.dll to full in hopes that it would work. The only thing that worked for me was to give the user local admin rights. I would like to avoid this so hopefully someone else knows the solution to this issue. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

We are having issues on our network with computers locking up, network printers not showing up on users machines, machines running very slowly. It is happening to some, not all PCs on the network. Servers are Windows 2008R2.

I have already resolved this error:

Removing CREATOR OWNER causes Access Denied on Server 2012 / 2012 R2

On earlier Server OSes, manually or programmatically removing CREATOR OWNER from print queue security permissions works fine. But on Server 2012 and 2012 R2 we have sites where attempting to print to such a queue results in Access Denied errors.

At first I suspected it was incorrect ordering of DACLS between working and problematic queues, as at one site removing and re-adding the ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES principal resolved the problem. In this case 1 and 3 were reversed below:

Working:

  1. (A;OIIO;RPWPSDRCWDWO;;;AC)
  2. (A;;SWRC;;;AC)
  3. (A;CIIO;RC;;;AC)

Problematic:

  1. (A;CIIO;RC;;;AC)
  2. (A;;SWRC;;;AC)
  3. (A;OIIO;RPWPSDRCWDWO;;;AC)

Note that these are set by Windows, not us. But other sites show no DACL differences or other differences and still don't work. The problem seems common with built-in drivers, for instance "HP Color LaserJet 2700 PCL6 Class Driver" on Server 2012 R2. Can anyone confirm this is a bug in 2012 and whether there's a work-around?

How can I lock a printer to accept jobs from a single IP address?

Hi all;

The following statement is from an artcile in Technet:

The printer can’t be locked to accept print jobs from a single IP address. It must be configured to accept print jobs from any client.

How can I lock a printer to accept jobs from a single IP address?

Thanks

Print and Document Services and printers connected via localport

Good day!

I faced with the necessity of publishing printers via AD. Since not all the printers in my organization have the Print Servers, part is connected via USB to the client computers. I connect these printers through Localport \\ <ip client> \ <QueueName>, set up the publication. With the server all the prints are fine, but if the client, for which has been published  that the printer, will try to print, has an error in print que. After restart spool'a job finished sucseccful.

The server logs any crime.

Tell me what am I doing wrong ??

Programmatically Printing XPS Documents with Page Scaling

I'm working on an implementation of the XPS OM that is ultimately intended for a hardware printer.  I've successfully created the OM, built pages, placed text and images, and I'm able to save my documents without any problem.  The saved documents display beautifully when opened in the XPS Viewer.  When I print from the XPS Viewer the page scales appropriately and the hard copy output looks good as well.  However, if I attempt to print using the examples available here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd372920%28v=vs.85%29.aspx my document is not printed scaled to the page in any way.  I receive only the top left corner of the page (maybe 1/8th or 1/16th of the total content), the font selections are missing, character kerning is awful, etc.  Are there any more comprehensive printing examples for XPS Printing?  Can anyone tell me how the XPS Viewer is printing the document such that it scales correctly so that I can reproduce the result?

Multi print queue names - windows server 2008

I am using Windows server 2008 32 bit as print server and am planning to replace one printer with a new one with the same ip address.

There are two print queue names in the current printer for Tray 1 and 2 and I just Wonder if I can just update a new driver for the new printer in the existing two queues. Or if I can set up a new print queues where I need three can i set them up with the same IP address when creating them in Print Management? For the new printer I need three queues for 3 trays. If possible I can just create them from Add Printer - >TCP\IP Port three times?

Printers won't collate

Hi,

I'm setting up a new printserver at work, running on W2012 R2.
This week I've encountered a problem; the printers won't sort/collate.
In Word 2016 I set my printjob properties to sort and in PDF readers I set the printjob to collate (adobe, foxit and nitro), but the documents get printed as 1-1-2-2-3-3 instead of 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3.
This is happening on a Canon LBP6650.

I have tried to use different drivers, these are the ones I have tried:
Canon LBP6650 class driver (from WUpdate): doesn't collate
Microsoft PCL6 driver (from WUpdate): does collate, documents are printed wrong and not on both sides.
Canon generic PCL6 driver (from their website): not compatible with print server.
Canon UFR II B/W driver (from WUpdate): doesn't collate.
Canon LBP6650 light-drivers (from their website, used for thin-cliënts): doesn't collate.

I've also tried giving everyone all the printer permissions, didn't make any difference.
I've also tried to set the printer to use PCL5, PCL6 and UFR, but all of them still didn't collate.

This is a big issue at our company, because some people have to print 12-paged documents multiple times.
Almost all of our printers are this model and they are all having this issue.

I really don't know what to do anymore, except to watch office space... :p

I hope someone will have a suggestion that might fix this issue.
Thanks in advance.

Print drivers on windows 7 clients missing dependent files..?

Hello All,

I am having a strange issue with a handful of our windows 7 clients.

What we have:

Recently I have setup a new 2008 R2 x64 server to hosts the printers in our school district. I have tried to keep things simple by using global print drivers that are available.  I only have the lastest hp global driver, the lastest xerox global driver, a dell printer driver, and a minolta driver. All of out client machines are running windows 7 enterprise and are both x64 and x86.

The Problem:

A handful of windows 7 machines seem to be missing the dependent files that should be listed under the properties of the driver in "print server properties". It has happened on x64 and x86 clients and pretty much prevents the clients from using any functionality of the printer they are connected to. At first I thought it may have been a xerox driver issue, but after seeing the issue on a few hp printers I am thinking its a problem with point and print somewhere? Any information that may help us resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your support! :D

Inheriting Permissions/Changing Permissions on Multiple Printers

We have a Windows 2008 R2 server acting as our Print Server.  A number of printers were added to the system before the final decision was made on how we were going to setup our permission policy.

I know that New printers will inherit the new permission policies, but is there any way to make the Current/Old printers inherit the permissions?  Or is there a method I can use to mass change permissions?  We have about 50 printers in the system already and I'm looking for ways to ease the work load.

Thanks.

Windows 2012 Print Server print jobs not clearing in the queue sometimes.

$

Hi,

I just put up a new Windows 2012 Print Server.  I noticed that sometimes when someone prints a job, the status says "Sent to Printer" and it doesn't clear all the time. The print job comes out successfully though.  It is very random (random time, random printer, random model).  All our printers are HP printers.  We are using PCL 6 6.1.0.

In order to fix this, I have to clear the queue by manually deleting the jobs or stop/start print spooler service which I don't want to do because it affects all printers (and sometimes affect the reliability of the printers).

Any thoughts or does anyone have the same problem with Windows 2012?

Thanks!

Servers using wrong print driver

Hello.

I have several Printers of the same type (HP Laserjet 1022n) installed on my Print Server (win 2012 r2). They are installed with the "HP Laserjet 1022n Class Driver" and are working fine from the printserver.

However if I then connect this printer in a Terminal Server Session (RDSHs are also 2012 r2) it says on the wizard screen "This printer was installed with the HP 1022n Class Driver". on the finish screen i can print a test page, which works.

Then, the printer is added in the printers and devices window and when I highlight the printer i can allready see "Model: HP Laserjet ZJS Class Driver".

When I go into the properties and try to print a testpage its not working anymore. and in the advanced tab i can see that the used driver is indeed this ominous ZJS driver (This driver is not installed on the print server).

If i change the driver manually in the dropdown menu to the correct 1022n Class Driver, it automatically reverts back to the ZJS Driver.

Someone able to enlighten me how i can tell the servers to use the correct driver?

Admin Can't See All Sent Faxes

$

Hi- Windows 2008 R2, domain-joined. I'm a Domain Admin. When I look in the Windows Fax and Scan on the server, I can only see the faxes I've sent. On my workstation, I can also see the faxes only I've sent. On a standard user's workstation, logged in as them, I can only see the faxes they've sent.

When I look in the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\SentItems folder, I do see files of all faxes sent.

As admin, shouldn't I be able to see ALL faxes? How can I accomplish this?

Thanx

Unable to receive fax on server 2012 r2, sending faxes is not a problem

$

Hello,

I am running a server installed with 2012 r2, fully updated, connected with a 56K USB controller dial-up External Faxmodem with Voice, downloaded the newest driver for 2012.

Added the role: Fax server with all the components.
Configured the fax server settings.
Configured the Modem area code.
Adjusted the Microsoft Fax and Scan settings.

the problem is that i am unable to receive faxes, the modem stands on auto pick up, if i set it on 2 rings the fax services crashed and needs to be restarted, when i set it on 4 rings the services will not crash but the fax will not be received.

So to figure out the modem was defect (it works on the 2008 server) I treid to send a fax, that works without any problems.

I also treid it with another fax software called GFI, the funny thing is that with GFI and the exact same settings (rings, modem speed, FIFO buffer on) I receive the faxes.

I have got a few event ID's like 32109 and 32092, searched on the internet treid everything (turning of FIFO, set modem speeds lower, adjusted the rings form 1 to 8, other modem (same Model))

Called with the company of the modem and their technical support said that there where no known issues with server 2012 and the fax role.

I even reinstalled the whole server and the Fax role, just to be sure I did not make any mistake, has anyone an idea to solve this or what I can try?

Thanks in advance.

Not Prompted to Fill Out Cover Page

$

Hi- Windows Fax Server on 2008 R2. Workstation is Windows 8.1 I successfully created a custom cover page. I tested on my workstation and saw/selected the cover page. I was then presented with a dialog box which basically asked if I wanted to enter information in the cover page. I selected 'No'.

Now I am not prompted at all to fill out the cover page when I select one, any one, custom or out of box. I restarted my workstation but that didn't help.

Likewise, if I do select to fill out the cover page, then on subsequent faxes I am not.

Do you know how I can get prompted to fill out the cover page info again?

Thanx

changing driver results in 'printer driver is not installed' error on server 2008

Hi,

I'm facing this strange problem.

First I installed a two drivers:
HP Color Inkjet cp1700 and HP color Laserjet 2550 PS.
Then I installed a printer, using an existing driver (one of the two above).
So far no problems.
But when I change the driver to the other driver installed on the server (in the advanced tab of the printer properties) I get this strange error:
"The 'HP color inkjet cp1700' printer driver is not installed on this computer. Some printer properties will not be accessible unless you install the printer driver. Do you want to install the driver now?" Yes/No
No matter what you choose, from now on this message keeps poping up when you enter printer properties page.

Both the drivers are default drivers, installed with server 2008 (not downloaded from the HP website). A lot of other HP drivers (on server 2008 DVD) have the same problem, but not all of them.

I tested this on server 2008 standard and enterprise edition, x86 and x64. All the same problem.
I tried to use the 'standard' way to add/manage printers by control panel > printers. And I used Printer Management. All the same.
Sharing the printer or not, does not make any difference.

Are there people having the same problem? Or maybe already a way to solve this?

Thanks,
Dirk

Switch wont connect to printer

Hi all,

Having a weird situation with a printer at the moment.

I recently exchanged a printer from one office to another, and am having issues with one of those printers connecting onto the network. prior to switching them over both printers were able to connect fine. Nothing has been changed with switches or ip addresses.

This printer im having issues with will not show any lights to indicate that it is connected to any network. I have tested the ethernet connection using a laptop and get an address, so i can rule out any issue with the switch. i have also connected a laptop to the printer using a ethernet cable and have successfully printed so the port is not damaged on the printer.

I have been able to come up with a work around for this issue by connecting a smaller 8 port switch to the 48 port switch and running the printer through that. however this is not ideal and would like to know what could be causing the issue.

the 48 port switch has not been changed since the old printer was connected to it.

any ideas appreciated.
