HI Support Team,

We have installed 5 Toshiba printers (STD TCP Port) with the latest toshiba printer drivers on a win 2012 Server and shared the printers. The printers are printing the test pages when printed from the server.

But, When we try to connect them from the client, on some clients it displays the error the Printer handle is invalid.

We tried to test by installing a HP Universal Printer and Sharing it. This also resulted in the same error.

We have a mix of Client OS, Win 7 , win 8, win 8.1 and win 10.

Need assistance in resolving the issue.

"Connecting to Printer" in Outlook 2010 sends message window to back.

I have a client experiencing a peculiar issue in Outlook 2010 that only occurs when particular Brother printers are set as their default. A HL-4140CN or a MFC-9460CDN

If within Outlook they open a message window then click on File | Print they get a brief message "Connecting to Printer" then the Main Outlook window comes to the front, obscuring the Email Message Window that displays the print preview and options. It's possible to switch back and print but it's a nuisance and confusing for some users.

This situation appears to be intermittent. Sometimes the "Connecting to Printer" message does not appear and in this case the peculiar behaviour doesn't appear.

I don't know what changes to require the "Connecting to Printer" message but I do know that it can be removed by changing the default to the third printer in the office, an MFC-9440CN or by switching the Printer driver to a BR-Script version.

Any ideas or suggestions?

2008 R2 Print Server IIS Webpage permissions

Hello,

We use Windows Server 2008 R2 for print servers in our environment. I'm looking to get our help desk set up with the proper permissions so that they can manage printer queues via the IIS webpage that is built in the printer services role (http://servername/printers/)

It appears they can access the page just fine, but get an authentication prompt for the server when they go to cancel a document for a specific printer or anything. I have verified that they do have "manage documents" permissions for all printers within our print environment, it's only when they attempt to do this via the IIS web page that they run into issues.

Network printer blocked randomly when printing

Dear support,

i am posting here because i am lacking of idea regarding a network printer problem that worries users and manager and it makes me crazy as well..

This problem appeared one month ago suddently without network or system change in my domain. Im using Window Server 2008 R2 Standard edition

When my users are sending files to any printers, it suddently block all of them without the possibility of removing files in Queue. When im looking at spooler service, eveything goes right, i can restart the service but the problem still persist, my only way is restarting the server which is also file server.. I tried everything, updating drivers, reinstalling printers on the server, deploying by GPO, nothing fixed my issue. The problem occurs mainly when large files(over 50 Mo) are sent to the printers but this can happen with small files <1Mo. I already checked if this can be a problem for the printers with provider and they answer me to do some test in local with USB Key and there is no problem. I don't know how to troubleshoot this and i would be extremely grateful for the help on this.

I cannot for the life of me find links to download printbrm or printmig > Microsoft; why the hell do you make it so convoluted to access these basic tools?  I want to igrate printers from my 2003 box; and I can't do it because I cant find the correct bloody tool on your horrendous website! When I type 'Printer migration tool 2003' in a search box; I dont expect to be brought to a page about 2008 print services!!!!!   it's shit!

Remote Desktop Connection Print Spooler Issues

We have a client with 3 users on a Windows 2012 R2 Standard cloud server. Every few days their redirected printers stop working. Some days 2 of them work and the other user can't print and it seems to be happening randomly. I've searched around and seen this exact problem occurring but with other versions of Windows Server. However, I have not been able to find a solution. In the print services error log we get this same message whenever their is a printing hangup. Always the "Win32" error and always"RAW data type" not printing anything. A restart of the print spooler as suggested does not correct the issue. Any help would be appreciated in this matter. Thanks.

This is the exact error message. The only thing that changes is the user and the file size.

"The document Print Document, owned by (name removed), failed to print on printer HP LaserJet P2050 Series PCL6 (redirected 2). Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler.
Data type: RAW. Size of the spool file in bytes: 173885. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the document: 3. Number of pages printed: 0. Client computer: \\S208-109-52-153. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 122. The data area passed to a system call is too small."

High Bandwidth to spoolsv.exe

Hello,

Our Windows 2012 R2 print server is experiencing high network utilisation to/from the spoolsv.exe service. The traffic is to/from computers at our remote office (not the local ones) who have our main printer connected via UNC path e.g. \\192.168.0.7\Printer. This is the only printer being shared on this server.

The traffic per client is often 2.5 Mbps bi-directional (see screenshot below).

Local office: 192.168.0.0/24  Remote office: 192.168.6.0/24

Is anyone able to shed any light as to why this is occurring? I am also unable to turn off bi-directional printing.

Adding an HP network printer and receiving 0x000005b3 error

Hi All,
a user has a windows 7 Enterprise and this machine is joint to a domain. I tried to add an HP universal printing PS (v5.2) printer which is a network printer and it gives me 0x000005b3 error.

What I've done so far?
- Removed all the existing printers
- Installed the driver manually.
- tried to add this printer under local admin rights.
- tried Administrator account.
- Windows is up to date and there is no missing drivers.
- Other people are using this printer with no problem. This user is the only one having problem.
- This user is able to add/print on other printers with no pain!

The strange part is when Windows tries to add the network printer. so it means printer is known for windows and OS tries to get the driver from Windows 2008 R2 Printer Server. Wizard finds the printer and starts to download the printer's driver. Then it says"Windows cannot connect to the printer."
Once again:
PC: Dell 980
OS: Windows 7 Enterprise
Printer: hp universal printing PS (v5.2)
Server: Windows 2008 R2

Any comment/suggestion is appropriated.

hello,

i've tried creating a new gpo with the purpose of mapping printers to users on a remote desktop server. i am trying to do this via user config -> preferences -> control panel settings -> printers. the problem is that, regardless of what i try i cannot seem to add the printers. initially i used shared printer settings and item level targetting in order to test with one user. i have tried modelling around 15 times, also with tcp/ip printer but i keep on getting the same error - Event 4098 0x80070709 The printer name is invalid. i even removed all the spaces from the printer name but this doesnt make a difference - any ideas?

regards,

Elroy

How to have user restart Print Spooler on a server

We have a 2008 R2 server where I would like users to be able to restart the print spooler on the server by launching a file (batch or anything similar) from their Win 7 workstation. I have found several solutions, including task scheduler, but nothing seems clear as far as performing the task on a server from a workstation.

Networked printer incorrectly showing offline for a handful of users

We have a networked Xerox printer which incorrectly shows offline for a couple users on a domain.  When those particular users go to print, the print jobs sit in the queue until the print spooler service is restarted.  One of the users reports that when he restarts the print spooler service, the printer then appears online and he is able to print to it.

Troubleshooting steps:

  • Had the user run the Microsoft print fixit scripts found here:  https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/askperf/2012/02/24/microsoft-fixit-for-printing/
  • Disabled the "SNMP Status Enable" option on the printer
  • Installed KB2961042 on the server
  • Installed KB2613128 on user's computer

Domain Client Printing Issues

Issues.

Symptoms and Scenarios that we have tested.

Domain Client -> Primary Domain Print Server -> Printer – Not ok, Jobs stuck between Domain Client print spooler.

Domain Client -> Secondary Domain Print Server -> Printer – Not ok, Jobs stuck between Domain Client print spooler.

Domain Client -> Workgroup - VM (2012R2 Testing) -> Printer – Ok

Domain Client -> Printer – Ok

Domain Print Server -> Printer - Ok

Workgroup Client -> Domain Print Server -> Print – Ok

Created a testing VM Windows 7 joined xxxx.com domain, tested mapped to domain print que and printed ok, but after restart pc or log in and log out, unable to print out. My Guess is it possible during that time the domain policy not yet push down the operating system. After policy is pushed on the operating system it will not be able to print.

Network is not blocked by firewall as all ports is allow, and the basic troubleshooting restart printspooler, restart server, remap que, reinstall drivers&packages all done, in windows/system32/drivers also given everybody written permissions.

Is there any policy that will cause this issues anyone can help?

Cannot connect to printer hosted on a Win2012 Server with a Windows 7-64bit client (Error 0x00004005)

I have a Windows 2012 Server set up offering print services to our network, there are about 20 printers set up all deployed via group policy. Recently, on one of our Windows 7 machines I am finding that I an unable to connect to one of the printers shared on the print server while other clients seem to be able to connect to the same printer with no problem. Also, the printer used to work just fine from this same Windows 7 machine.

To test things further I logged onto the Win7 machine as the domain administrator, connected to the print server and double clicked on the printer to attempt to install it manually (rather than letting Group Policy do it). When I do so I receive the following message, "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation failed with error 0x00004005.

I have done some searching but the only references I am finding to this particular error message involved users attempting to connect to a printer hosted on a 32-bit version of Windows from a 64-bit client. However, in my case both the server and client are 64-bit.

Can any one help me troubleshoot this 0x00004005 error?

Thank you.

Unable to print from 2003 R2 x86 to Printer shared by Windows 10

$

Work domain; Windows 10 in place upgrade from Windows 7; Brother HL-6180DW is a shared printer on the Windows 10 PC.

First Scenario:

Windows Server 2003 R2 x86 using local port trick; can print to the printer from interactive application such as Notepad. Print requests submitted by a Windows Service on the server which runs using the same user account, fails. Error unknown, it's just a generic print failed ERP system service error. Will investigate the Windows 10 Event Logs for further info.

Second Scenario:

Windows Server 2008 x64 adds the printer using the local port trick, and that copy of the printer is shared from this Server. Windows Server 2003 R2 x86 connects to the printer shared from the 2008 Server. Any print requests get stuck in the queue on the 2008 Server and the following error is observed:

PrintService : Admin

Event ID: 372

The document document, owned by 2003_User, failed to print on printer Brother HL-6180DW. Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler.
Data type: NT EMF 1.008. Size of the spool file in bytes: 1118140. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client computer: \\2003_SERVER. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 5. Access is denied.

Third Scenario:

Windows Server 2003 R2 x86 gives user credentials prompt when just trying to browse and add the printer as you normally would, without using the local port trick. Tried everything could think of to resolve this, nothing so far has worked.

We would really like to get this working in this manner, but there are some options I realize, such as adding printer to the network, upgrading the 2003 Server, etc. Is anyone aware of more troubleshooting that we could do, or any known reacharounds?

Unable to receive faxes

Environment: Windows Server 2012 Standard, windows fax and scan version 6.2 (build 9200), MultiTechMT9234ZPX-PCIE-NV

We are able to send faxes without issue but when receiving faxes we receive the following error in the received log.

"Reception error" "Unknown fatal error" "0x0000000c" 3/18/2016 11:50:40 3/18/2016 11:51:26 "Multi-Tech Systems MT9234ZPX-PCIE-NV" "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\Queue\1D1812DEBEA30.tif" 0 "404xxxxxxx""650xxxxxxx" "770xxxxxxx" "" 0 "0x0401d1812debea30"

The main thing that I've noticed is that the TSID is incorrect in the log, displays previous fax number. I have checked the settings for the modem in Fax Service Manager and the TSID is correct there. I'm unsure if this is the issue but it does seem odd that the old fax number is being logged as the TSID when the TSID is configured correctly on the modem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Windows Fax and Scan on Server 2008R2

We are currently running a Windows 2008 R2 Standard server with the Fax and Scan role installed. My clients previous faxserver was a Captaris Faxpress machine and they were able to accumulate multiple attachments into one single fax. Now moving to Windows fax each attachment is sending as an independent fax. So when we send multiple attachments say 2 or 3, the recipient receives either 2 or 3 different faxes. Any help with this would be great!
